Ready to get loopy? We’ll explore looping exercises, sound-scaping techniques, loop builds, looping as a practice aid and even overview a few pieces designed for looping, helping you layer textures and build exciting harp soundscapes!

Looping opens up a whole new world of creativity for harpists – from building free time soundscapes to crafting fully layered rhythmic loops for performances as a solo player. In this IMMERSION session, we’ll dive into the world of live looping, exploring layering harp textures using a looper pedal to build both confidence and musical creativity.

With a mix of guided warm-ups, structured loop creations, and loop ready pieces, you’ll practice both the footwork and creative mindset to have looping a joyful part of your learning and performing toolkit.

🎼 What will we cover?

• The what and why of looping! – A brief introduction to looping
• Warm-up & Layering Practice – Use standard scales and arpeggios to create beautiful textures and rhythmic beds using your looper.
• Free Time Soundscapes – Time to explore! Use sound-scaping ideas while building comfort with recording, overdubbing, and clearing loops live.
• Structured Loop Builds – Learn mini loop-based snippets, layering bass, rhythm, harmony in creative and accessible ways.
• Looping as a Practice Aid – How looping can help with practicing in general; such as rhythm work, improvisation practice, as a more friendly metronome!
• Looped Pieces Overview  – Finish the class with a brief overview of pieces shared ready for your use that are ‘loop ready’ including Renovations, Last Leaf Falls, Mixit

💻 Online Short Course

The session will be delivered live on Zoom on Sunday 25th May 2025, from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM GMT+1. We’ll take a short break halfway through to give fingers (and feet!) a rest.

After the live session, you will receive access to:
✅ 90 minutes of video training
✅ PDF guide sheet and loop structure suggestions
✅ 12 months’ access to all materials

Can’t make it live? No problem – everything will be recorded and available for you to revisit whenever suits you.

⚙️ Pre-Session Requirements

To join this session, you must have access to:

• A harp and amplifier/speaker to hear your loops clearly

• A looper pedal or app (e.g. RC-30, RC-500, Ditto, Loopy Pro, etc.)

And you must be able to:
✅ Record a loop and cut it to length
✅ Overdub additional layers
✅ Clear a loop

We won’t be covering technical setup during the session – so please ensure your equipment is fully functional and familiar ahead of time.

This IMMERSION is perfect for harpists of any style with an interest in creative exploration through technology. You’ll need to have a functioning looping setup ready to go.

Simplified and extended musical options will be offered throughout, making this suitable for adventurous advanced beginners through to the more established players wanting to expand their performance and compositional options.

This session follows the same creative, practical, and welcoming approach as my START HARP and Flourishing Harpist courses, combining technique, playfulness, and musical depth.
