Come and join us this May as Dynamic Harps returns to face to face ensemble classes for the first time in over 2 years, we have a seven joyful sessions ahead of us, six classes followed by a seventh meet up which will be a celebration ‘play through’ and mini harp party!

What is Dynamic Harps?

In 2013, 7 trembling harpists arrived in a small church hall outside Cardiff, unsure what to expect, who they would meet or what they would do. It was the first ever meeting for Dynamic Harps, and yes I was the tutor, one of the 7 tremblers!

The “In person” Dynamic Harps ensemble have performed throughout South Wales, with up to 24 performers in total, we travelled to perform at the Harpes Au Maxes international harp festival in France, Caernarfon International Harp Festival, the Pop and Jazz Wild Strings Harp Festival, National Botanic Garden of Wales and more.  We have guest tutors come in to teach and have learned so much from the likes of Robin Huw Bowen, Meinir Heulyn, Lauren Scott, Deborah Henson-Conant, Ellie Evans and Ben Creighton Griffiths.

When we went online in early 2020 due to COVID-19, we invited harpists across the globe to join us, and what a total joy that turned out to be! At the time of writing there are over 300 harpists enrolled into the ensemble online and a group of these students will continue to meet online monthly throughout 2022.

It’s been such an incredible journey,  the power of learning and playing in an ensemble is so strong, we make friends, become better at sight reading, improve our rhythm, our technique, are inspired by others and of course simply enjoy the joy music making together.

This May I am returning to offering face to face classes (in addition to the monthly sessions online), there will be a Monday evening class and a Tuesday daytime class to fit in and around different schedule demands. All ages and abilities welcome.

At this moment in time I am not running a separate children’s ensemble, if there is demand I would be delighted to resume this in Autumn 2022, please email me on info@harpwales.com to express interest and get on to the mailing list.

Are you trembling? Come and join us! I promise it will be worth it!

I currently have a batch of lateral flow tests I will bring to sessions for anyone who would like one. Whilst we are still able to access free testing in Wales, and as I have young children in school, I will take a lateral flow test before each ensemble session to do my best to keep our group as safe as possible.
