FAIRPLAY CHRISTMAS IMMERSION 2021

Online short Course

This course will initially be delivered live on 5th December 2021 3PM-5PM GMT, following the live delivery, the course will be available as a set of video lessons and sheet music downloads in online learning platform Ruzuku.

Have you sorted your Christmas party piece this year?! If not come and join a merry band of fellow harp enthusiasts at this years FAIRPLAY CHRISTMAS IMMERSION to help you prepare! In this online course, we look at ‘See, Amid the Winter’s Snow’ (including original countermelody), ‘I Saw Three Ships’ and finish off with a little peek at a little swing time Christmas tune I have written called  ‘Have You Heard’ where I will show you (by ear) how get the most out of the bass-line, using chords from the lead sheet.

As a little technique focus for this course, we will be working on how to make our baselines sound loud and clear to support to the melody and be a beautiful foundation for all harmony to ring out over this Christmas! I know this isn’t a glamours or particularly exiting sounding technique fours, but it really is an idea that will help your playing sparkle this Christmas (and all year round)!

“Great immersion! As usual, Shelley went above and beyond. We’re now ready for Christmas 🎄and have some fantastic techniques and insights for glissandos and improv to use all the year through. 🗓” Rebecca Blakeney referring to Christmas IMMERSION 2018 (START HARP Level 1, 2 and 3 graduate!)

Here are some comments from students who tried the last IMMERSION:

  • Insider info…..don’t miss it but prepare yourself to be bombarded with info in the nicest possible way
  • Don’t miss it! And don’t be surprised if you feel overwhelmed if you do it live. Shelley basically fits a full week of Start Harp into 2 hours, so it’s a lot to take in live — but then you can go back and work with the videos as you’re already used to doing in Start Harp. Or you can miss the live bit and just do the videos afterward. I did my best learning of Spiralling Shoots after the fact, when my brain was quiet and I could hear myself think and appreciate what I was playing.
  • I couldn’t join live so learnt it from the recordings, which are great.
  • I was glad to be on the live presentation, although it was early in the morning. However, due to more pressing priorities, I tabled my practice efforts for a future time—hopefully, in September. That is a benefit of the Immersion structure. Sign up for the class and add to your repertoire when you are ready.
  • I also saw it in the replay. It’s great to be able to go over everything slowly…
