Following on from the successful creation of the Dynamic Harps Global CD for the Harp Project ’23, I am delighted to invite the online ensemble to come along in person to perform with me at the Camac Harp Weekend in Cardiff this May! For those of you who attended the February online session for the virtual ensemble you will already be aware that we will rehearse on Friday 3rd at Insole Court in Cardiff and then perform on the Saturday at the harp weekend which is based at Howells School in Cardiff.

When?

Rehearsal: Friday 3rd May 2024 from 10am – 4pm  GMT In Person Only

What do you need to join?

You will need to be able to perform Myfanwy, The Dynamic Harps Ditty and Caernarfon’s Calling from the Harp Project ’23 repertoire.

The workshop day will focus on our ensemble playing and performance skills for these pieces which will with then perform together on the Saturday.

Cost:

The cost for the 10am-4pm rehearsal with myself (Shelley Fairplay)  will be £45 (without lunch) or £57.50 including light lunch. All participants will have access to morning and afternoon tea break drinks/biscuits.

For the regular Dynamic Harps in Person ensemble members, please note that your space on this workshop day will be covered by the fee payable for the Summer term (we will have 8 Monday nights and then this Friday daytime session for Summer 2024). When you sign up for the summer term you will be able to add on the light lunch option for an additional £12.50.

In addition to signing up for the rehearsal day, you will also need to book to attend the 2 day Camac Harp Weekend. All performers will receive a discount on the full rate and it will be a super weekend with wonderful workshops and concerts! Please mention to Elen Vining when booking for the Camac Weekend if you are performing in order to receive the discount from £180 to £135. If you have already paid in full before securing your place as a performer with Dynamic Harps this will be rectified once you have booked in with the ensemble.

How to Sign Up?

The sign up link will be sent out at 1pm GMT on Tuesday 5th March 2024. There will be 15 spaces available online in total.

The local Cardiff ensemble members already have their spaces booked to perform, PLEASE CARDIFF MEMBERS DO NOT BOOK VIA THIS WEB PAGE.

*COVID-19 Precautions and Guidelines

Masks and various other precautions are not currently required in Wales

Additional General Precautions:

All harpist members are aware of the symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19). The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of:

  • New continuous cough and/or
  • High temperature
  • Loss or change to taste and/or smell
  • + non-official common symptoms of runny nose / sneezing

Harpists are advised that if they or their household display any of these symptoms, no matter how mild, remain at home until tested and the results are known. It is strongly advised that symptomatic people book a test as soon as possible.In the absence of a test, please complete the appropriate isolation period for your localities current restrictions.

All staff/performers advised to follow good hygiene practices in controlling the spread of COVID-19, following must be maintained at all times:

  • Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds, at least at the start and end of shift and where opportunities arise during your shift.
  • Use of hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available during the day
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards or apply hand sanitiser
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  • Regular use of hand sanitiser where hand washing is not available.
